Ayşe BELGİN-HENRY
Project Director
Ayşe (PhD, UIUC) received her BArch degree on architecture and later specialized on Byzantine studies. She completed her dissertation ‘The Pilgrimage Center of St. Symeon the Younger: Designed by angels, supervised by a saint, constructed by pilgrims’ in 2015 and currently is a full-time Instructor at Bilkent University, Department of Architecture. Her research interests include the Late Antique and Medieval heritage of Antioch, formulation of sanctity in Byzantine architecture and landscape studies.

Leyla ETYEMEZ-ÇIPLAK
Architect, GIS and Conservation specialist for the project
Leyla (PhD, METU) received her BArch degree on architecture and later specialized on construction techniques of historic structures. She completed her dissertation ‘Understanding the Construction Technique of Mimar Sinan’s Buildings: The Case of Lüleburgaz Sokullu Mehmed Paşa Mosque’ in 2017 and currently is a full-time Instructor at Çankaya University, Department of Architecture. Her research interests include the structural systems and construction techniques of historic structures, urban archaeology and GIS as a tool for cultural heritage conservation.
Elif ARA
Architect
Elif received her BArch degree from Bilkent University in 2018. She is passionate about art, photography, traveling and volunteering for both local and international causes. She is interested in restoration, adaptive reuse, contemporary problems of urban sustainability, urban design and art history of Mesopotamian culture.
İlayda GÜLER
Architect, MArch student (METU)
İlayda received her BArch degree from Bilkent University in 2018. She is currently a MArch student at METU. She is interested in preservation, adaptive reuse, urban design and the role of architecture while shaping people’s lives in general.
Gülsen ŞENOL
Architect
Gülsen received her BArch degree from Bilkent University in 2018. She has been a part of Erasmus Exchange Program in 2017, in Gdansk University of Technology, Poland. She has a specific interest in the relationships among art, history, architecture and humanity. She immensely enjoys and is actively involved in theater, literature and traveling.
